The Ruhr-Universität Bochum, the University of Duisburg-Essen and TU Dortmund University host several Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes relevant for materials research. Further information to the individual study programmes can be found here.
The UA Ruhr universities and their partner institutions offer joint programmes related to materials research for PhD students.
The main goal of the graduate school SiMiDe (Simulation-based Microstructure Design) is to intensify and coordinate the research and doctoral training in the area of microstructure-based simulation of mechanical and coupled processes across the UA Ruhr universities.
The DFG Research Training Group (Graduiertenkolleg) 2131: High-dimensional Phenomena in Probability – Fluctuations and Discontinuity offers excellent national and international graduates in the mathematical sciences the opportunity to conduct internationally visible doctoral research in probability theory.
The International Max Planck Research School on Reactive Structure Analysis for Chemical Reactions (IMPRS-RECHARGE) focuses on interdisciplinary research between chemistry and physics with an emphasis on catalytic mechanisms, physical-chemical analysis and energy topics.
The International Max Planck Research School for Surface and Interface Engineering in Advanced Materials (IMPRS-SurMat) focuses on questions centered on surfaces and interfaces of advanced materials.
Science Career Net Ruhr
ScienceCareerNet Ruhr (SCNR) is an early career network programme for young scientists at the three UA Ruhr universities. The programme offers several cross-university qualification courses for students interested in earning a PhD, doctoral candidates and postdoctoral fellows.
